The human eye is capable of focusing on objects at various distances and creating a sharp image on the retina. This process of adjustment within the human eye is called accommodation. In the case of inadequate lighting conditions (less than 100 lx or in thick mist or fog) accommodation of the human eye is reduced. It also declines as people grow older starting at the age of about 40-45.
